Snake

There are around 3000 different species of snake. Snakes are carnivores (meat eaters) and smell with their tongue. Snakes don’t have eyelids and have poor eyesight, and so have heat sensors that can pick up vibrations. They have internal ears but not external ones. They are covered in scales and shed their skin a number of times a year in a process that usually lasts a few days. They can’t bite food so have to swallow it whole When snakes strike they have a near 100% success rate. Some species of snake, such as cobras and black mambas, use venom to hunt and kill their prey. Most snakes are shy, not aggressive. They just want to be left alone.
