Mice

Mice have a pointed snout, small rounded ears, and a long almost hairless tail which grows to be the same length as their bodies are. Mice typically enter our homes from October to February looking for food, water and shelter from the cold. Female mice can give birth when they are two months old and are able to have babies 6 to 10 times per year. Despite their tiny bodies, mice eat between 15 and 20 times a day. Mice are good jumpers, climbers and swimmers. They have poor eyesight but make up for this with their very good hearing and smell. In the wild, mice are herbivores that eat all kinds of fruit and grains from plants. Pet mice are very funny little creatures, they are extremely social as well as clean pets to keep in a home. They create one place in their cages to put their food, one to use as a bathroom and another area where they like to sleep. In 1928, Walt Disney's Micky Mouse was the first mouse character to be used in children cartoons and animation.
