RABBITTS
Rabbits are furry animals with long ears and short fluffy tails. They move about by hopping on their back legs which are much larger than their front legs. They have very sharp front teeth, which are used to eat their food. Rabbit’s eyes are at the side of its head. They can see things behind or to the side better than the front. They also have a very good sense of smell. The young rabbit is called a kitten and is born blind, without fur and is quite helpless. The male rabbit is called a buck and a female a doe. Rabbits feed on grasses, leaves and on the barks of trees and shrubs as they are vegetarians. Rabbits are wonderful pets for older children and adults. Grooming is one way to show a rabbit you mean no harm. Gently stroke, comb, or kiss a rabbit’s face, and you are speaking rabbit. Rabbits are very sociable and are happiest when they have another rabbit for company. The average lifespan of a Rabbit is between seven and ten years. Rabbits can be kept indoors or outdoors.
